The origins of Azienda Agricola La Croce date back to the 1960s, when brothers Dario and Mario Zari purchased the land located in La Croce from the Church of Sant’Agnese. At that time, the estate was a small 16-hectare farm in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, near the natural cypress grove of Sant’Agnese. The property consisted of a farmhouse, olive trees, a few rows of vines, some arable land and woodland. Dario and Mario, together with their four sons Renzo, Ademaro, Ivo and Sergio, immediately made a name for themselves for the excellent quality of their wine and oil, made with love and passion.
Thanks to the continuous investments made over the years and the sensitivity shown by heirs Alessandro, Silvio and Luigi towards technological innovation and experimentation, the company has evolved significantly in terms of both quality and land. It now has a total surface area of 110 hectares located between the municipalities of Castellina in Chianti and Poggibonsi, divided into 65 hectares of vineyards and 15 of olive groves, with the remainder consisting of arable land and woodland. Despite its size, it continues to be one of the few family-run estates in the Chianti region.
